Do you expect someone to do something for you or be there for you or to stand up for you? Is it because you did the same for them? If so, since when has it become reciprocal to give back the same way? Maybe they were nice enough to hold your place in the queue, or pick up your groceries or even compliment you. Did you do the same exact thing for them? Probably not. Life is much better when we don’t keep score, isn’t it? So, you may ask, how and why: How to manage expectations and why to live in detachment? Let’s begin.
How to manage expectations is directly related to being detached from a situation. They kinda go hand in hand. The more you care, the more you are attached to a situation or person and thus, the more you expect. The less you care, the less attached you are to a situation or person and thus, the less you expect. And the good part about this is, when you expect less, you get more. The more detached you are to something or someone, the more attached they are to you. That’s just the laws of the universe, the way things work. So, for starters, doing less, being in your feminine energy, being open to receiving and taking back your energy are keys to detachment.
Now you may ask, Dululu girl, why to be detached? I care about my specific person, or as I like to use, my ‘significant’ person (SP) and the more I chase him, the further away he runs. Detachment will show that I am not interested in him and that I have moved on. So what? If you’re making efforts and he isn’t appreciating it, maybe it is best to move on. If you still want him, take back your energy not to move on per se, but to focus on yourself. Be the girl of your dreams, be the one who is on top of her fitness and routine, take care of your mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health. Watch yourself grow and glow up. Divert attention back to yourself. Ignoring on purpose is also sending him energy that you’re ignoring. Just stop chasing. And if he is the right one for you, he will chase you back, make efforts, show up. If he isn’t, well congratulations, you have now levelled up and are in higher vibrational frequency to attract someone genuine in your life. There is no love lost. That is the great thing about detachment.
As I like to say: expectation is the root of all evil. You may become resentful if you keep harbouring expectations from your SP or anyone else for that matter, and they don’t deliver. Maybe they are clueless, or maybe just maybe, you aren’t detached enough. The key to managing expectations is to expect less and be grateful when you receive beyond your expectations. That shows gratitude to God and you will be receiving more in the long term from Him. Staying where there is disrespect also doesn’t align with your soul’s mission. Walk away, do less, expect less and stay detached. But by that being said, don’t always do that when someone is really trying to get your attention and you like them too. It’s a fine balance and the best way to learn is through trial and error. I know you got this! I will see you in my next one! 🙂
