Gratitude: The Gateway to Your Desires

5 min read by Zeni

Everyone talks of Law of Attraction and Law of Assumption, and how you can quantum leap to your manifestations with the correct techniques and the right attitude. Yet, many of us are still seeking our desires, ever so close, still so far away from our reach. Why is that? Why is it that what we want doesn’t want us back? Be it a billion bucks or the man of your dreams or the dream job or anything really…. Why is it that we are, despite practicing abundance affirmations, in a lack? Yes, simply visualising and doing nothing about it is probably why you are not reaching your manifestations, but if you are actively working on your dreams and scripting/affirming and it is still a distant dream, perhaps there is something missing.

It could be because you ‘lack’ gratitude in your life. You ‘lack’ a sense of gratefulness in your life. You ‘lack’ saying simple ‘thank you’ in your life. And if your solution is to listen to 10- minute morning gratitude affirmations, then that’s also a problem. Giving thanks is not a task to do, it is an energy to be in. Be grateful for the life you have, for the face you have, the body you have, the hair that’s too frizzy, your degree that seems so ordinary… be grateful for the ability to read and write, to smile, to say “thanks”. I am not going to go over all the cheesy things that you have to count to feel grateful, because honestly, that is personal to you.

But even if you don’t feel thankful for the little things, which is fine as most people expect it to be the normal- be thankful for existing. Live and breathe in the energy of giving thanks to God who made you be alive, who gave you the sense to know right from wrong, the ability to learn from your mistakes, that is rare. People often live from their egos and they don’t ever learn to evolve as spiritual beings. They are stuck in the same toxic habits and mindsets that make them relive the same lessons time and time again because they refuse to open their mind to learn. But you did, which is rare. You broke the toxic cycles and came out on top, that is rare. Be thankful for that.

Giving thanks is also a way of closing a chapter in your life. Be it with a toxic ex or esoterically speaking. Instead of going about saying, “I will never forgive him, he was the worst, he wasted my time blah blah”, which energetically ties you to him and therefore slows your manifestation of finding your dream guy, you can say: “I thank (insert name) for giving me memories and lessons from which I have learned and grown as an individual and I now know better” you are breaking off your karmic bond to him- because let’s be honest, that toxic ex is not your soulmate- and yeah it could be a TF but honestly, I personally don’t believe in twin flames so…

Esoterically speaking you can thank God for the tough childhood you probably had. Not because it was so awesome particularly, but because it’s finally over. No one can be mean to you anymore. I know this can be a sensitive topic but we as souls have made contracts with other souls and we have decided what kind of lessons we are meant to learn in this life. That doesn’t seem fair but it is what it is. You had to learn to stand up to bullies or you never would. You had to learn to be your own person, for you never would learn otherwise. It is kind of like tough love. Nothing is fair in this world and that’s what makes it fair. But be thankful that it’s over and that you have ‘closed’ that chapter. Try to do shadow work or talk to a professional if that is your reality. You are not alone.

I’m going to end this on a lighter note by saying that things don’t often feel easy, but your belief in yourself and a higher being bigger than yourself, Like God for example, can really change the outcome of a situation and you should thank yourself for your faith and to whoever that helped you in your trying times because a greedy person is a thankless one. And thankless people often don’t get their desires manifested. If you’re always looking up, you never looking to see what you have and what others below you don’t have. Always be grateful. And to practice what I preach, I thank you for reading so far! Catch you in my next one.
